The Crystal Springs Uplands Gryphons will take on the South San Francisco Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Crystal Springs Uplands 2.4, South San Francisco 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Crystal Springs Uplands is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Priory last Thursday. With that win, the Gryphons brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Brandon Ma made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Ma was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Connor Uchida was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Nico Abad was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, South San Francisco entered their tilt with El Camino on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They had just enough and edged out the Colts 3-1. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Colts on their field since May 5, 2017.
Like Crystal Springs Uplands, South San Francisco also got a great game from a two-way player: Gabriel Martin. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Martin was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Martin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adam Keith, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Crystal Springs Uplands pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for South San Francisco, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Crystal Springs Uplands has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like South San Francisco struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Crystal Springs Uplands suffered a grim 24-1 defeat to South San Francisco in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Gryphons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
