Recap: Dillon Wildcats vs. Waccamaw Warriors
The Dillon Wildcats had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Waccamaw and snuck past 46-43. Given Dillon's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Waccamaw is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dillon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zamaurious Robertson, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Shawn Samuel, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and three steals.
Waccamaw's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colin Behney, who scored 15 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Behney scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dutch Kerns, who scored seven points along with five steals and two blocks.
Dillon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Waccamaw, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Loris the next time they take the court. Waccamaw will head out to face Loris at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Dillon will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
