Soccer Game Preview: Salina Central vs. Buhler

The Salina Central Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Buhler Crusaders on Thursday. Salina Central's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Salina Central fell victim to Andover Central and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Jaguars. While losing is never fun, Salina Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas soccer rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Andover Central are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Buhler kept a clean sheet against Classical on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Saints 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Buhler.

Buhler pushed their record up to 8-5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four matches. As for Salina Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13-2.

Salina Central suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Buhler in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
