Softball Recap: Lincoln Tigers vs. Franklin Panthers
It was a proper cat-fight when Lincoln duked it out with Franklin on Wednesday. The Tigers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-10. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Mel Martinez was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, Monica Vences and Monica Amaya stepped up to the plate in a big way. Vences went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Amaya got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Gladys Barajas, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Lincoln now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
