Softball Recap: Washington Township Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cumberland on Wednesday, Washington Township came back down to earth. The Minutemen lost 13-3 to the Kingsway Dragons on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.

Alyssa Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

Washington Township has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Kingsway, they pushed their record up to 16-0 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.

When Washington Township and Kingsway next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Minutemen will challenge Vineland and their 14-game winning streak at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Kingsway will try to stop Steinert's six-game winning streak when they meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dragons 2, the Spartans 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
