Soccer Game Preview: Perryton vs. West Plains

The Perryton Rangers will challenge the West Plains Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Perryton is headed into the contest having not lost since January 24 and will look to keep things rolling. They never let Canyon get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Friday. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, West Plains had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.4 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They put the hurt on the Whitefaces with a sharp 8-2 victory. Given Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Whitefaces are ranked 804th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Plains' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those five matches. As for Perryton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Perryton skirted past West Plains 2-1 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perryton since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
