Basketball Recap: Layla Songer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hubbard over Struthers

Hubbard fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Struthers on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Struthers Wildcats. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layla Songer, who posted 12 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Murphy, who had ten points and seven rebounds.

Hubbard's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Struthers, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.

Hubbard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-34 loss against Boardman on the 23rd. As for Struthers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-29 defeat against Crestview on the 30th.
