Baseball Recap: Riley County Comes Up Short

Riley County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the St. Marys Bears, falling 13-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-4 on Monday.

Riley County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for St. Marys, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-7-1.

Looking ahead, Riley County is taking a road trip to challenge Royal Valley on Thursday. The Falcons are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for St. Marys, they will host Holton on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.75 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
