Basketball Recap: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. West Prairie Cyclones

Astoria/VIT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 65-44 to the West Prairie Cyclones. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cyclones apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

West Prairie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Braden Coplan out in front who went 11 for 19 en route to 26 points plus three steals. The contest was Coplan's third in a row with at least ten points. Ryan Clark was another key player, going 7 for 9 en route to 18 points plus six rebounds and two steals.

Astoria/VIT's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for West Prairie, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.

Astoria/VIT and Midwest Central are set to duel on Tuesday. As for West Prairie, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-43 loss against Davis County on the 7th.
