Basketball Game Preview: Smyer Bobcats vs. Sundown Roughnecks

Smyer hasn't had much luck against Sundown recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Smyer Bobcats are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Sundown Roughnecks at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Smyer saw some tournament action on Thursday. They lost to All Saints Episcopal School on the road by a 52-33 margin. The matchup marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Sundown came up short against Sudan on Friday and fell 46-37. The Roughnecks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Smyer will have to keep a close watch on Kye Powell and Briar Miller, a pair of players who had a big impact on Sundown's prior game. Powell posted 11 points, while Miller put up seven points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan McAdams, who had four points and eight rebounds.

Sundown's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Smyer, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.

Smyer came up short against Sundown in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 51-41. Can Smyer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
