Softball Game Preview: Somers Tuskers vs. Fox Lane Foxes

The Somers Tuskers are taking a road trip to take on the Fox Lane Foxes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last four games Somers has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Somers' win against Walter Panas wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tuskers skirted past the Panthers 5-3. The Tuskers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Emily Boyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Somers let Julia Peanamanda and Katie Cole run wild. Peanamanda went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Cole got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Those three hits gave Peanamanda a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Morel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Fox Lane fell victim to White Plains and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 12-0. It was the first time this season that the Foxes let down their fans at home.

Fox Lane's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Somers, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Somers couldn't quite get it done against Fox Lane in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Tuskers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
