While Lutheran's win against Fort Morgan wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. In a tight match that could have gone either way, the Lions made off with a 26-25 victory over the Mustangs. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs on Thursday, too.

Eli Abramson was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 233 yards and a pair of TDs. Evan Holdridge helped Abramson out on the ground, rushing for 62 yards and two touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was Lutheran's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Barrett Kinsman was especially locked on to Fort Morgan's QB and sacked him twice.

Fort Morgan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jj Marquez, who threw for 235 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 60 yards. Ben Fritzler was another key player, gaining 119 total yards and a touchdown.

The win got Lutheran back to even at 1-1. As for Fort Morgan, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Lutheran will face off against Pueblo West at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Fort Morgan, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Skyview at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
