Baseball Recap: Northern Highlands Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Northern Highlands won the last time they faced River Dell and things went their way on Saturday too. The Highlanders walked away with an 11-8 win over the Golden Hawks. With that victory, the Highlanders brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Charlie Goebbert was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Stephen Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Northern Highlands moved to 10-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for River Dell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Northern Highlands and River Dell could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Highlanders will challenge Ramapo at 4:15 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (73 vs. 18). Meanwhile, River Dell (ranked 244th) will meet Ramsey (ranked 46th) at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
