Softball Recap: Madison County Gets the Win

Madison County proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Bell Bulldogs 4-2. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Alden Bass made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Bass wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anna-Kayte Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Madison County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bell struck out 11 times.

Madison County's record is now 12-1. As for Bell, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Madison County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-2 win against Lafayette on the 10th. As for Bell, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-3 victory against Chiefland on the 10th.
