Basketball Recap: Mayfield Takes a Loss

Mayfield was the 45-40 winner over Hobbs when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Mayfield Trojans were outmatched by the Hobbs Eagles and fell 77-45. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mayfield's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Hobbs, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Mayfield will take on Roswell in a tournament on Thursday. Roswell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Mayfield likes a good challenge.
