Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cooper

Cooper had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Saltillo Lions a 15-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Cash O'Neal was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cooper let Jace Meeks and Jaret Slakey run wild. Meeks went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Slakey went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Meeks is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Karter Randle also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Cooper was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Cooper's record now sits at 18-5. As for Saltillo, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Cooper will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
