Basketball Recap: Abigail Powers and Madison Case Secure Win for Mayfield

Mayfield put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Johnstown Sir Bills by a score of 57-47. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mayfield was led to victory by Madison Case and Abigail Powers. Case dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds, while Powers almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Case a new career-high in assists (seven). Kendyl Conyne was another key player, putting up two points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Mayfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Mayfield's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Johnstown, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Mayfield is taking a road trip to challenge Fort Plain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnstown, they will be playing at home against Schuylerville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
