Sanford proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Monte Vista Pirates 3-2. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Sanford was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 15-9.

Claire Crowther paced Sanford's offense, picking up ten kills. Crowther got some help from Avery Koenig and her 24 assists. Rose Schwartz controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

Despite the defeat, Monte Vista saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abbi Ortega had ten assists and seven digs.

Sanford's win bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Monte Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Sanford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monte Vista, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Middle Park on the 31st.
