Softball Game Preview: Florence Falcons vs. Central Wildcats

Florence is 1-9 against Central since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m.

Florence is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 10-4 to Austin.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Russellville by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday.

Chloe May spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Mycah Beth Ray was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Peyton Benson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Florence's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Florence suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Central when the teams last played back in March. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
