Basketball Recap: Pharrell Williams Key Part of Team Effort in Eagles Win

Pleasant Grove posted their closest victory since December 26, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Laguna Creek Cardinals 71-68. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in January, they had to take a 65-62 loss.

Pleasant Grove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pharrell Williams, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Williams also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Pleasant Grove is undefeated when he posts at least five steals, but 4-18 otherwise. Julien Ocampo was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds.

Pleasant Grove was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Laguna Creek still got an impressive performance from Jordan Boyce, who went 7-for-15 en route to 27 points and three steals. What's more, Boyce also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Koa Jones, who posted ten points.

Pleasant Grove picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 8-18. As for Laguna Creek, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-18.

Pleasant Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-39 loss against Monterey Trail on the 12th. As for Laguna Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-58 defeat against Natomas on the 8th.
