League recap: Munday extends winning streak with victory over Petrolia

Munday extended the longest winning streak in 1A-2 Region II District 8 this week by beating Petrolia, 67-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Moguls.

Munday led the league in scoring this week after putting up 67 points on the Pirates. Dee Paul threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 82 yards in the win.

Munday's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Moguls feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Paul has thrown for 837 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Jake Myers has six catches for 211 yards. Paul also leads the league in rushing with 829 yards.

The top two teams in 1A-2 Region II District 8 will face off this week when first place Munday takes on second place Muenster. Last week, Patrick Corcoran's team topped Petrolia, while Muenster bested Perrin-Whitt.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Hornets take on the Moguls. Muenster has allowed 79 points this season, while Munday has given up 75. Brady Carney's team allowed 12 points last week as it beat the Pirates.

Electra made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,010 from 9,254. The improvement was the result of 42-25 victory over Era last week.
