Preview: Heyworth vs. Flanagan/Woodland/Roanoke-Benson
On Friday, Heyworth take on Flanagan/Woodland/Roanoke-Benson at 7:00 PM. Neither Heyworth nor Flanagan/Woodland/Roanoke-Benson could muster much offensive firepower in their last games, so look to the defense to decide this one.
Heyworth couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They found themselves the relunctant recipients of an unpleasant 0-28 punch to the gut against El Paso-Gridley last Friday. Heyworth were down by 0-21 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Flanagan/Woodland/Roanoke-Benson had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They suffered a grim 0-34 defeat to Rockford Christian last week. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better score. Hopefully the teams can find a way to make up for their last outings by putting some points on the board this time.
