Softball Recap: Pierce Keeps Rolling Against Ponca

Pierce had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Ponca Indians on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bluejays in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.

Pierce got a massive performance out of Evelyn Skrdla, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances while posting 2 stolen bases, 3 runs, and 1 RBI. Those three runs set a new season-high mark for Skrdla. The team also got some help from Jessa Kraft, who went 4-for-5 while posting 6 RBI, 2 doubles, and 2 runs.

Pierce took the easy way to first and finished the game with 12 walks. That's the best they've done in that category all season.

The victory improved Pierce's record to 1-0. As for Ponca, they dropped their record down to 0-1 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pierce is set to face off against their familiar foe Highway 91 at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Bluejays' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Meanwhile, Ponca will take on their in-conference opponent Arlington at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
