Soccer Game Preview: Buckeye vs. Desert Edge

The Buckeye Hawks will face off against the Desert Edge Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckeye's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Desert Edge will have to contend with a Buckeye squad hungry for a win, something the team hasn't seen since January 16. Buckeye and Casa Grande finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Friday.

Meanwhile, Desert Edge entered their tilt with Carl Hayden Community on Friday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Their defense stepped up to hand the Falcons an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Scorpions, who have now won eight matches by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Carl Hayden Community with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Tatum Iler (3), Maleia Moala (3), Adison Harrell, and Angelica Mayo-Gerardo.

Desert Edge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-1-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 60 goals over those 12 games. With that draw, Buckeye's record moves to 7-4-3.

Buckeye suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Desert Edge in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Can Buckeye avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
