Basketball Recap: Red Springs Comes Up Short

Red Springs was the 71-58 winner over Midway when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Springs Red Devils took a blow against the Midway Raiders on Wednesday, falling 62-35. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while the Raiders are ranked 246th).

Travis Gist continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Midway, putting up 16 points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Williams, who posted ten points.

Red Springs dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Midway, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.

Red Springs has already played their next match, a 68-29 loss against Fairmont on the 31st. As for Midway, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-38 win against Clinton on the 31st.
