Softball Recap: Honaker Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Honaker dropped their record down to 9-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chilhowie Warriors. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Honaker saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadence Rose, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Chilhowie, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-1. The four-run effort marked their lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

On Chilhowie's side, Kylee Dancy made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Dancy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madi Preston, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Denessa Martin, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Honaker will take on rival Rural Retreat at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2.8, the Indians 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Chilhowie is set to square off against their familiar foe Northwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
