Softball Preview: Farragut Admirals vs. Alcoa Tornadoes

Farragut and Alcoa are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Admirals will face off against the Tornadoes at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Farragut and Maryville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Admirals were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Red Rebels on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Admirals in their matchups with the Red Rebels: they've now won nine in a row.

Hallie Grace Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Farragut let Alexa Shrader and Rylee Raby run wild. Shrader scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Raby went 2-for-3 with one home run. Those two hits gave Shrader a new career-high. Dajah Means was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Alcoa's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Farragut, their record is now 20-4-1.

Farragut suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Alcoa in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Admirals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
