Baseball Recap: Washington Township Wins Going Away Against Marquette Catholic

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Washington Township walked away with it. They blew past the Marquette Catholic Blazers 10-4 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Senators needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Hunter Lang looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Washington Township let Destin Billings and Gavin Kukler run wild. Billings went 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Kukler went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Kukler a new career-high.

With the win, Washington Township broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-9-1. As for Marquette Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Looking ahead, Washington Township will take on Kouts at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs & Fillies' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Senators' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Marquette Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
