Football Recap: Southport Comes Up Short on the Road Against Franklin Community

Southport kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a blow against the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs, falling 38-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

Franklin Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cole Bowker led the charge by picking up 38 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also punching in one rushing score. Greyson Betts was another key passer, throwing for 107 yards and three TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Coming up, Southport will welcome Perry Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Franklin Community, they will venture away from home to square off against Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
