Basketball Game Preview: Sanger Indians vs. Aubrey Chaparrals

Sanger hasn't had much luck against Aubrey recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Sanger Indians will square off against the Aubrey Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Sanger will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Van Alstyne, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Sanger sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over Van Alstyne on Friday. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Panthers are ranked 820th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Aubrey posted their closest win since November 12, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Gainesville 62-59. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chaparrals.

Aubrey is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Sanger, their win bumped their record up to 19-5.

Sanger was able to grind out a solid victory over Aubrey in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 71-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sanger since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
