Basketball Recap: Memphis East Takes a Loss

Memphis East was the 78-73 winner over Whitehaven when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Memphis East Mustangs fell 39-30 to the Whitehaven Tigers on Monday. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Whitehaven can attribute much of their success to La'Niyah Moore, who shot 63% from the field en route to 13 points and seven boards. Moore continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jala Wilson was another key player, putting up five points and ten rebounds.

Memphis East's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Whitehaven, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Memphis East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whitehaven, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-29 loss against Bartlett on the 5th.
