It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Snow Canyon Warriors had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 win over the Bruins. The win was familiar territory for Snow Canyon who now have three in a row.
Owen Mackay was his usual excellent self, scoring 45 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Snow Canyon's points. Trey Kelsch was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Mountain View lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryce Mella, who scored 24 points along with five assists and three steals. That was a full 39.3% of Mountain View's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Conner Fairbanks, who scored 22 points.
Snow Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.
Snow Canyon is on the road again on Monday and plays Dixie at 12:50 p.m. on February 26th. Dixie knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 matchups -- so hopefully Snow Canyon likes a good challenge. Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
