Basketball Recap: Loris Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Loris hadn't done well against Conway recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lions enjoyed a cozy 62-45 win over the Tigers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Tigers are ranked 73rd).

Loris had a senior duo take command as MyKhai Bell shot 90% from the field en route to 18 points and five rebounds and Khalid Sherman posted 16 points and five boards. Thanks to that strong game, Bell now owns an excellent 62.5% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Nigel Miller, who scored seven points.

Loris was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conway only posted three.

Despite the loss, Conway still got an impressive performance from Trevon Johnson, who went 8-for-20 on his way to 22 points and five boards. The matchup was Johnson's seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Landon Barker also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Loris pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Conway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loris will be home for the holidays to greet Carolina Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Conway will take on Franklin County in a holiday battle at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
