Basketball Recap: Brock Comes Up Short

Brock saw some tournament action on Friday. They lost to the Northside Grizzlies on the road by a 60-41 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 77th in Texas, while the Grizzlies are ranked seventh in Arkansas).

It was another big night for Erianna Gooden, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards for Northside. Those 11 boards gave Gooden a new career-high. Hazley Grotjohn was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

Brock's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Northside, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Brock will take on Legacy in a holiday battle at at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northside, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lincoln Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northside has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
