Clinton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Vicksburg on Friday. Clinton blew past Vicksburg 17-0. The Arrows might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Jack Grove looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Dodson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Josef Walker was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Clinton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Florence came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Braves. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.
Bryan Davis was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
Clinton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Florence pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Florence's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clinton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. It's a different story for Florence, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Clinton's hitters?
Clinton came out on top in a nail-biter against Florence when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clinton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
