Softball Recap: Randolph-Henry Triumphs

Randolph-Henry was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cumberland on Tuesday. The Statesmen blew past the Dukes 9-2. The Statesmen haven't had any issues with the Dukes recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Hadleigh Duffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kendall Snead, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Addison Canada was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Randolph-Henry's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Cumberland, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Randolph-Henry will take on rival Buckingham at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cumberland is set to face off against their familiar foe Nottoway at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
