Baseball Recap: Environmental Charter Beats Animo Leadership for Their Third Straight Win

Environmental Charter extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 13-5 in the process. They came out on top against the Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles by a score of 5-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Daniel Avilla, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Carlos Leanos was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Animo Leadership, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-12 record. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matchups prior), but Environmental Charter's pitchers proved too tough.

On Animo Leadership's side, Axel Serrano put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Serrano has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Environmental Charter will take on Rancho Dominguez in a tournament on Saturday. As for Animo Leadership, they will square off against Ambassador at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
