Basketball Game Preview: Phelps Hornets vs. Floyd Central Jaguars

Phelps is 0-5 against Floyd Central since January of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Hornets will welcome the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Phelps came up short against Shelby Valley and fell 75-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (61), the Hornets still had to take the loss.

Phelps might have lost, but man, Tyler Weddington was a machine: he almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine boards. The game was Weddington's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Knox Wallace, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Floyd Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Powell County on Saturday, taking the game 72-59. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Phelps now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Floyd Central, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
