Baseball Recap: Canyon Lake Wins Going Away Against Crystal City

On Friday, Canyon Lake made easy work of the Crystal City Javelinas and carried off a 12-5 win. Canyon Lake might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Hayes Holladay made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Canyon Lake got a massive performance out of Michael Anderson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs Anderson has posted over his last ten contests. Bryce May was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Canyon Lake hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Canyon Lake has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 15-3-1 record this season. Crystal City's record is now 7-5.

Coming up, Canyon Lake will square off against Cole at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Cole has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Crystal City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ingram Moore at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
