Basketball Game Preview: Broadwater Academy Vikings vs. Portsmouth Christian Patriots

Having just played yesterday, the Broadwater Academy Vikings will get right back to it and host the Portsmouth Christian Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Broadwater Academy beat Greenbrier Christian Academy 52-46. That six point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

Broadwater Academy relied on the efforts of Grayson Ross, who went 6 for 14 en route to 23 points and six rebounds, and Noah Pruitt, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Pruitt has scored at least a third of Broadwater Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Chris Ames, who posted five points.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth Christian entered their tilt with Atlantic Shores Christian on Monday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Seahawks by a score of 55-44.

Portsmouth Christian is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Broadwater Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Broadwater Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Portsmouth Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 39-35 victory. Will Broadwater Academy repeat their success, or does Portsmouth Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
