Football Recap: Southwestern Piasa Birds vs. North Mac Panthers
Southwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of the North Mac Panthers by a score of 35-33. One positive for the Piasa Birds, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Southwestern's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Rimbey, who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. Rimbey's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Greyson Brewer was another key player, gaining 200 total yards and two touchdowns.
Even though they lost, Southwestern was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Kevin Bricker was a one-man wrecking crew for North Mac as he rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Those 107 rushing yards gave Bricker a new career-high.
Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for North Mac, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Southwestern will be playing at home against Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
