The Ocoee Knights will head out to challenge the Timber Creek Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ocoee has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Ocoee is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Bishop Moore. Even if the Knights couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Zoey Gray was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Akya Feacher was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Ocoee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Timber Creek's offense. They fell just short of Harmony by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wolves have suffered since March 29, 2024.
Gabbi Scott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
Ocoee now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Timber Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Ocoee's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. Ocoee has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Timber Creek, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ocoee continue to outrun the ball?
