Softball Recap: Sarah Byars Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Milan

Westview barely beat Milan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

McCall Sims made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, Westview got a big performance out of Sarah Byars, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Byars has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zoey Matte, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Westview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milan only posted a batting average of .160.

Westview's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Milan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-8 record this season.

Westview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Milan, they will face off against McKenzie at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
