Baseball Game Preview: Chaminade Eagles vs. Taft Toreadors

Chaminade is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Taft a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Chaminade Eagles will welcome the Taft Toreadors at 3:30 p.m. The last three games Chaminade has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Wednesday, Chaminade didn't have quite enough to beat Sierra Canyon and fell 9-7.

Chaminade got a good showing from Adam Batmanian, who struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Batmanian has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Isaiah Hearn made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Chaminade's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ryder Gullage, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Taft lost 13-2 to Palisades on Tuesday.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Chaminade, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
