Basketball Game Preview: Tygarts Valley Bulldogs vs. Preston Knights

The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs will head out to take on the Preston Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tygarts Valley is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Tygarts Valley lost to Tucker County on the road by a 58-40 margin.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sarah Defibaugh, who posted 11 points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Summer Lewis-Smith was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Preston was able to grind out a solid victory over Trinity Christian on Wednesday, taking the game 55-42. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Tygarts Valley better keep an eye on Cameryn Sypolt. She was instrumental in Preston's win, going 8-for-12 on her way to 22 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Sypolt has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Nazelrod, who earned six points and nine boards.

Preston picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 7-11. As for Tygarts Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Tygarts Valley has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Preston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.6 boards.
