Basketball Recap: Randy Livingston Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Newman over Rosepine

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Newman couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rosepine Eagles on Friday.

Newman's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Randy Livingston Jr, who posted 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Livingston Jr has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played. Pierce Cunningham was another key player, shooting 45% from the field to rack up 10 points and seven rebounds.

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Rosepine, the victory was the 25th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-3.
