Preview: Cedar Grove Panthers vs. Hoboken Redwings
Cedar Grove and Hoboken are an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2014, but not for long. The Cedar Grove Panthers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Hoboken Redwings at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of seven wins, Cedar Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The matchup between Cedar Grove and Caldwell wasn't particularly close, with Cedar Grove falling 42-28.
Cedar Grove's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Stephen Paradiso, who threw for 470 yards and two touchdowns, and Nicholas Iannacone who picked up 177 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jackson Morrice also helped out as he racked up 134 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Hoboken, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They were beaten by Lincoln 54-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Hoboken can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Lincoln is ranked 146th).
Having lost for the first time this season, Cedar Grove fell to 7-1. As for Hoboken, their defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.
Everything came up roses for Cedar Grove against Hoboken in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 48-14 victory. Will Cedar Grove repeat their success, or does Hoboken have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
