Volleyball Recap: Olathe West Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

There's no place like home for Olathe West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Washburn Rural Blues on Thursday. The Owls were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Blues, so the Owls were just returning the favor.

Olathe West easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-19.

Joy Finley paced Olathe West's offense, picking up seven kills. Finley got some help from Neely Leathers and her 23 assists. Finally, Kylee Webb kept Olathe West's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Olathe West's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. As for Washburn Rural, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Coincidentally, Olathe West and Washburn Rural will both be playing Pleasant Hill the next time they take the court. The Owls will host the Roosters/Chicks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Blues will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
