Volleyball Recap: St. John's Christian Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of five wins, St. John's Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on September 9th.

St. John's Christian Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Patrick Henry Academy work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 27-25, 23-25, 25-20.

Defeat or not, St. John's Christian Academy got some senior leadership from Chandler Cumbie and Kylie Finley. Cumbie had 20 kills, nine digs, and three blocks, while Finley had seven kills, six digs, three aces, and two blocks. Cumbie is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily McKnight, who had 12 digs and one block.

St. John's Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Patrick Henry Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

St. John's Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Cathedral Academy on the 2nd. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Laurence Manning Academy on the 4th.
