Softball Recap: Vista del Lago Eagles vs. Dixon Rams
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Vista del Lago walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dixon Rams on Wednesday, sneaking past 11-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the match before.
Alayna Piexoto tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Lauren Aubrey and Jillian McGuire did most of the damage at the plate: Aubrey went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while McGuire went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Aubrey has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Peyton Huber, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Vista del Lago was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixon only posted a batting average of .222.
Vista del Lago is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Dixon, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
Coming up, Vista del Lago will face off against Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. Dixon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
